A piece for string orchestra as a part of the play "The Wood Painting" by Ingmar Bergman

We find ourselves in a medieval no man's land where the characters are walking against an unknown fate. We meet the knight Antonius Block and his gunman Jöns who walked home from the holy land. On the way they meet a variety of characters who becomes a part in their fate. But where are they actually? Bergman wrote the play as a student in Malmö 1954. A few years later (1957) he developed the theme and filmed it. The result became the movie "The Seventh Seal".
